High Altitude Living Low Altitude Training Essay Example for Free

High meridian Living Low Altitude Training EssayAltitude schooling describes training practice by suspensors training in group O deprived conditions for several weeks to increase their performance endurance. Often, there ar altitudes training camps strategically designed for this objective (Geiser, Vogt, Billeter, Zuleger, Belforti Hoppeler, 2001). Altitude training however entails simulated or natural altitude conditions in the training course often as a precursor to a major competition event. The conditions are maintained darn the training athlete is in the training process, during exercises and while at rest. Despite this, altitude training strategy exposes the athlete to hypoxia, small(a) oxygen pressure, thereby resulting to hypoxemia, tissue oxygenation and small-scaleer line of credit. The history of living high altitude and training low altitude traces to 2400m altitude Mexicos 1968 Olympic Games. During the event, enduring athletes such as in the 10,000 and 3, 000 m marathons could not set new records and their performance declined whiles the sprinter athletes succeeded (Rusko, Leppvuori, Mkel, Leppluoto, 2010). Altitude hypoxia condition explained this. It was known to decimate human beings aerobic performance.Consequently, coaches, athletes and sports consultants adopted altitude training camps to acclimatize competition. Implementing altitude training was observed also to altitudes. Experts argued that, in endurance performance, the volume of total red melodic phrase cells was paramount. This was confirmed by experimental tests involving manipulation of human blood (Stray-Gundersen, Chapman, Levine, 2012). Therefore, the higher the volume of an athletes red blood cells, the faster the performance of an athlete probably is during the triathlon. However, it is commonly observed that altitude training has improved the performance and endurance of multiple athletes but still others do not. So, how comes altitude training does not induc e the consistency in positive results?Scientific empirical evidences suggest astronomical variant individual adaptive responses to this training concept. In addition, altitude allowance account exposure determinants are also poorly understood (Tiollier, Schmitt, Burnat, Fouillot, Robach, Filaire, et al., 2005). Moreover, hypoxia condition training at a practical level as the training intensity oversight is a principal problem. Under such conditions, maximal exercise capacity of an athlete reduces drastically. High living and low training concept arose to improve on the defects of altitude training. It involves sleeping or living at high altitude thereby stimulating increase in volume of red blood cells while training at sea level to conserve an athletes training intensity. This helps to overcome multiple training related problems while posting reconciled adaptations.Besides, living high and training low at low altitude triggered renal hormone erythropoietin (EPO) secretion (Wilbe r, 2013). In turn, the hormone stimulates the synthesis of red blood cells provided there is sufficient altitude dose. Therefore, the high altitude living low altitude training rationale in sporting events was founded on a junto of altitude and rigorous practice to boost the volume of red blood cells. In so doing, there was a boost in an athletes endurance performance. Based on this finding, several hypoxic facilities across the worldwide have been established by various sports federations over the years. In addition, numerous amateur, elite and lord athletes across the world training in low altitudes prior to major events have been observed to set new fetes (Wilber, 2013). This confirms the high altitude living and low altitude training hypothesis. Despite this, numerous accurately controlled scientific researches do not exhibit systematic assertive results of the hypothesis on athletes endurance performance.Despite the anecdotes, altitude training results over the years produced majority positive performance results among athletes. Assertive endurance results by elite athletes who posted inaugural records over the years present a strong case to adapt classical altitude training.ReferencesGeiser, J., Vogt, M., Billeter, R., Zuleger, C., Belforti, F., Hoppeler, H. Positive Consequences Essay Example for Free

Positive Consequences EssayEthnocentrism is the practice of judging new(prenominal) cultures in the context of superstars throw culture. By using the standards of a certain culture to assess other cultures, ethnocentric mess often cultivate hasty and stinking generalizations about people whose cultural backgrounds differ from theirs. Racial stereotypes and the usage of scapegoats are two negative effects of ethnocentrism. Ethnocentrism A common mistake that occurs in the mull over of other cultures is the tendency to critically assay the culture being studied using the standards of ones aver culture. In doing so, the researcher imposes the assumptions and perspectives of his or her own culture on everything that he or she encounters about the culture that he or she is studying. The researcher eventually starts to dismiss facts that may appear different or strange to him or her as bad, dumb, pagan, primitive, etc. The end result is that the researcher unknowingly practic es ethnocentrism (NCSU-CHASS, n. d. ). Us against Them Merriam-Webster Online (2008) defined ethnocentrism as a (belief that is) characterized or based on the attitude that ones own group is superior (Merriam-Webster Online, 2008).Ethnocentrism occurs when people make generalizations about other cultures and customs that are based on their own cultural norms. More often than not, ethnocentric individuals unconsciously use their own culture as a universal yardstick that can accurately judge cultures that are different from theirs. As a result, they come up with erroneous, hurtful and disrespectful assumptions about other people (Culbertson, 2008). Positive Consequences Ethnocentrism satisfies the human psyches need for identity and belonging.By claiming that his or her culture is superior over other cultures, a person gains a sense of importance over other people. Ethnocentrism also fosters intarethnic loyalty, which, in turn, leads to the survival of a society. In her article Ethnoc entrism and Xenophobia A Cross-Cultural Study (2001), Elizabeth Cashdan argued that being social animals, humans do not puzzle the capacity to survive on their own. They had to form groups or communities wherein members shared the complex responsibilities needed for survival (Cashdan, 2001).But they also have to compete with other groups or communities, especially for resources. In order to win the competition, a communitys sense of identity must be strong enough to motivate its members to recant personal interests and work together towards the societys advancement. As a result, the community survives and even improves (Cashdan, 2001). Negative Consequences Ethnocentrism is the root cause of various misconceptions about people of certain cultures. Ethnocentric individuals often create anti-Semite(a) stereotypes about them simply because they regard them as inferior or uncivilized. Below are some examples of racist stereotypes The Mammy. The florists chrysanthemum is the oldest a nd the most popular racial stereotype regarding African-American women. She is portrayed as dark-skinned, middle aged, overweight, very religious cheerful and extremely loyal and nigh to the neat family she was working for. There is no historical evidence that supports the existence of actual mammies. Further research revealed that this stereotype was created to justify the institution of slavery the mammy was proof that fateful women were happy and contented as slaves. In addition, her desexualized nature was intended to conceal sexual relations between white men and black female slaves in pre-Civil fight America (Pilgrim, 2000). The Tom. The Tom is the male counterpart of the mammy. He is frequently presented as a hardworking, smiling and dependable black server, usually working as a fieldworker, cook, butler, porter or waiter. Just like the mammy, the Toms life revolves around his white masters and their families. Furthermore, the Tom is other racial stereotype that was int ended to debunk arguments about the evils of slavery.Nowadays, Uncle Tom has evolved into an expression that is used to criticize a black person who is unreasonably subservient to white people. genus Lotus Blossom. The Lotus Blossom is one of the most well-known stereotypes attached to Asiatic women. The term Lotus Blossom refers to a prudish, quiet and submissive Asian woman. But Hollywood took this stereotype to a higher level by featuring Asian women who are prudish, quiet and submissive, but at the same time, eager to enthral white men. Consequently, movies such as Street Fighter and The Joy Luck Club often pair white actors with Asian actresses (Dugong, n. d. ).Dragon Lady. Akin to the Lotus Blossom, the Dragon Lady is also bodilyly stunning. However, the latter uses her sexuality to get what she wants. Aside from having the ability to seduce men, the Dragon Lady also has superior physical strength and martial arts skills. It is believed that she has the power to hypnotize he r male rivals, gain trust by seducing them, and when they least expect it, she rids of them through sabotage or backstabbing (Dugong, n. d. ). As a result, this stereotype projected the misconception that Asian women are avaricious and not trustworthy (Dugong, n. d. ).Scapegoats The usage of scapegoats is another detrimental effect of ethnocentrism. Some people and or organizations unjustly blame other people or groups for the occurrence of certain problems. The targets, in turn, receive rejection and even outright persecution from parties that the perpetrators have managed to influence. The Holocaust is a standard example of using other people as scapegoats. Adolf Hitler got himself into power by constantly blaming the Jews for Germanys economic, political and social instability after World War I.Conclusion There is a saying that prejudice is the idle mans substitute for thinking. This byword is very much applicable in ethnocentrism. kind of of taking the time to really know othe r cultures, some people would rather judge them negatively simply because they are different from their culture. True, attacking other cultures unfairly may be cathartic. But doing so also exposes ethnocentric individuals as insecure people who put other people down to make themselves look and feel good.

Advertisement Is a Legalised Form of Lying Essay Example for Free

Advertisement Is a Legalised Form of Lying EssayNecessity is the mother of invention is an oft-quoted saying. But now-a-days the grow of it is more true. In modern business, invention is mother of necessityIn this age of machinery, newthings ar produced everyday. Market is created for these things through advertizementBusinessmen advertise their goods in various ways and thus col a knowledge of their goodsamong the customers. It is through advert that people begin to feel a need for even those goods of whichthey had never heard before. Advertisement creates de creationd. it is the backbone of transaction and Industry. No business can stay in the business world without advertisement. A successful businessman is one who snatches away money from even the some miserly and reluctant customer. Thus, the business world rotates on the pivot of advertisement. As the world is progressing, so the means of advertisement are excessively increasing. We everyknow that big posters are p asted on the w anys, and handbills are distributed to advance the sale of goods. Wall(a)s are painted and big signboards are introductioned on crossings and prominent places toserve this purpose. In a cinema hall, original of all we see the advertisement slides.A major part of thedaily newspapers is full of advertisement. Situations Vacant, Tender Notice, Educational, Lostand Found, Matrimonial, cinema advertisements, and advertisements of so many other commodities are regular features of all newspapers. Radio and Television besides are being used asmeans of commercial advertisement. A good advertisement must have sure qualities. First, it should be found on human- psychology. A thing meant for ladies, should be advertise in such a way that they are attractedtowards it. If men are to be customers, and so it should arouse to their tastes.Goods for differentincome groups should be advertised, taking into consideration their purchasing power. A motor car is a thing for the rich. Its advertisement must be touch the mentality of the rich. Usha SewingMachine should be advertised in such a way that the family man, with ordinary income, may feelthe economic advantages of the investment of his money on it. Secondly, advertisements should be attractive. This is very essential. People escort towardsan advertisement only if it is eye-catching. Good, fire pictures are very effective form this point of view.We all know about Sanforised cloth. The advertisements to show that quality of the cloth display a man wearing a suit of non-sanforized cloth. He appears funny and uncomfortable ashis suit has gone out of fit by washing. Another man is shown wearing a suit of Sanforised cloth. How smart and active he appears. We immediately learn that Sanforised cloth is scoop up because itdoes not shrink. So a good advertisement must be interesting, attractive and eye-catching. But proper sanctity must be maintained and unnecessary exposure must be avoided. It must also befrequ ently repeated, otherwise people forget all about the goods advertised. do not like to waste their time on things which do not concern them. So to be successful, advertisement must be brief. Long descriptive stories or certificates of praise about certain thing donot make good advertisement. This is an important point in advertising and a good advertiser mustkeep it in mind. Advertisements are not concerned with the good or bad quality of goods. Even the mostinjurious goods are advertised these days. Advertisements of undesirable drugs and medicines andindecent literature, so common. They simply cheat the public. So we should be careful while purchasing an advertised article. We should use our own mind, instead of blindly interest theadvice of the advertisement. In our country, the art of advertising is in its infancy. in progressive countries, likeAmerica, big business concerns have specialists and experts for this purpose. They spend hugeamounts of money on advertisement. But it is not so in our country. Some businessmen consider their products to be very superior. They think advertisement unnecessary. This is undesirable.Toget success in business every big or lessened business-concern must make effective us of art of advertising goods. To run a business without its aid is not possible in the modern age. the advertisement for the body-spray, Impulse. The whole idea of a man absorbed in hisdaily routine being suddenly roused out of it by a whiff of Impulse and then going through a seriesof impulsive actions to compliment the lady wearing it, is romantic and endearing to most women. This combined with the light, tinkling piano accompaniment and soft-focus cinematography makes theadvertisement an attractive one. Then we have the newspaper and magazine advertisements, invibrant color, interesting graphics and witty slogans. Take a look at most cosmetic advertisementslike Maybelline or Cover girl, where the page is attractively splashed with the newest colors them anufacturer has come up with a pretty, lively girl caught in mid-laughter. Therefore, advertisements today are generally interesting due to the visual and sound effects made possible yadvanced technology in the various mediums of print, sound and film, and a little imagination, especially when rival companies try their best to attract consumers and so try to advertise better. atomic number 18 they useless? Not necessarily. In many ways advertisements help to keep the cost of most publications little so that we can afford them quite easily. This applies in the case of our dailynewspaper The Straits Times, the Sunday Asia Magazine, the popular Readers Digest andespecially the publication we are all familiar with, our respective school magazines. Theadvertisers pay to advertise and this payment subsidizes publishing cost so that we pay less thanwhat we might otherwise have to pay.Advertisements also help to ease our boredom sometimes. How many times have people been roused out of a bor ed stupor once they see an interestingadvertisement on a billboard or bus or when lazily flicking through a magazine? Also, advertisements either interesting or otherwise, especially of otherwise, do promote conversationamong friends when they treat them, how an advertisement is so silly, or another is unusual andimaginative and yet another is introducing an interesting and attractive product which might beworth buying. This then brings us to the last point. Are advertisements misleading? One of their uses is that they inform us as to what is available on the market, but is this informationwholly true? Their main function is to attract buyers so naturally, only certain details regarding a product are highlighted while others are not provided at all. We are made to believe that a productis long-lasting, worthwhile, multi-purpose and bound to give us that happiness we cannot findelsewhere.Perfume advertisements promise to bring the opposite sex falling at ones feet, dictionary and encyc lopedia advertisements promise to give us all the wisdom and knowledge inthe world, cosmetic advertisement for Ponderosa Steak Salad Restaurant promises juicy andtender steak and delicious salad. I have eaten there and found the steak to be of very impoverished quality, for a very high price, but the salad was everything the advertisement led me to believe. conclusionSo in conclusion, I would say that modernAdvertisements are boring, unless and oftenmisleading.

The Law Of Attraction

The Law Of AttractionEver since human beings evolved, only the strongest, fittest, and wisest survive. But now, with the discovery and development of medication and the study of the structure of the human body, all humans send packing live healthy lives. However, there are many things that are yet to be nonice and plurality seek to find that drive inledge and understand more about how things work. Day by day the curiosity of many scientists, philosophers, and physicists increases as they want to know more about how the universe works and if there exists a nonher universe with other unknown beings and if human beings can have the power to control what happens in the universe. Fortunately, this power exists and all human beings use it without even knowing so. This power is vocaled the law of affection, the science of attracting more of what a soulfulness wants and less of what s/he doesnt (Losier, 2007). The law of leader was known by some people many centuries ago but not ma ny people understood when it started and how it works and then was hidden as a secret treasure that if found, get out change the world. The law of loss leader began at the beginning of time (Byrne, 2006). It can even be found in antediluvian writings way before Christ. The existence of such law was even recorded on the Emerald tablet, 3000 BC As within, so without. which means that a mortal from within is the cause and the soul without is the effect the person from the inside controls the outcome of his/her life (Tan, n.d.). And as one of the most religious teachers, Buddha, explains all(prenominal) that we are is the result of what we have thought What we think, we become. Even the most famous historians, like William Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci, Beethoven, Sir Isaac Newton, and Plato, used this power to achieve what they wanted in life but each person in his own way. For instance, Shakespeare delivered the law in his poetry, Leonardo da Vinci portrayed it in his paintin gs, and Beethoven express it through music (Byrne, 2006). This law of attraction can also be found in religions such as Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism and it can be found in civilizations as well, like the ancient Babylonians and Egyptians, in their writings and stories. The law of attraction isrecorded throughout the ages in all its forms, it can be found in ancient writings through all the centuries.(Byrne, 2006).Most people know about this law and others dont and some use it unconsciously but they dont know how it works. This law actually works on thoughts. When a person thinks of something, s/he sends out vibrations from the mind to the outside world and these vibrations act as a magnet that attracts what thoughts that person had. For instance, when a person thinks all day about his/her childhood friend, the brain sends out vibrations and attracts things about that friend, eventually, that person may get a phone call from that childhood friend or an e-mai l or even somebody may mention something about that particular friend. However, this law of attraction has flaws it does not tell negative thoughts. If a person kept sentiment like, dont spill on my new shirt or I dont want to fail the course, the law of attraction does not look at the not part it simply looks at the key words and acts. Eventually that person will spoil his shirt or fail the course. However, if that person changed his mentation into a positive one and thought My shirt will always be clean or I will pass the course, s/he will not mess up the shirt or will pass. That is why people should be careful when thinking of something they should always think in a positive way. However, not all people can monitor their infinite thoughts everyday and change every private one of them from negative to positive as this process is exhausting. Fortunately, there is a simple way of altering the way a person thinks into positive thinking and that is by being in a state of joy, hap piness, and peace. It is known that when a person is happy, the mind sends out good vibrations that attracts good stuff. That is why happy people live healthy lives as they attract good things to their lives. Many people dont achieve what they really want and they always feel that they are limited to what things they can get in life. Aside from not feeling good about themselves, people dont actually believe in themselves. They dont believe that they can achieve whatever they want in life and that it is impossible. If a person looks at the bright side and believes that nothing is impossible s/he will achieve what s/he really wants. There are three simple steps that can help a person achieve, these steps are to ask, believe, and receive. A person should ask him/herself what s/he really wants and then s/he should believe in it and feel that they will get it or actually they already have that thing s/he wants and then eventually with time that person will receive it. But the most import ant of these steps is to positively believe that you can make it all happen for you.(Harrington, 2009)On the other hand, Ingrid Hansen Smythe, a freelance writer, disagrees completely with the law of attraction concept. He states that the law of attraction concept seems to me that it is like a woman using some form of birth control and then lying back and affirming I will not get pregnant I will not get pregnant It seems obvious that it is the birth control, and not the positive thinking, that is getting the job done.(Smythe, 2007). Smythe (2007) argues that when a person wants something s/he has to work hard to get it there is always something that can help you get what you want. For example, a little boy wants to have a bike. A few months later, his birthday came up and he got some money for his birthday and then he bought himself the bike. In other words, positive thinking is not the only reason behind a person getting what s/he wants a person cant get what s/he wants just by thi nking about it (Smythe, 2007). Moreover, there are many people who suffered in their childhood from emotional and sexual abuse, does that mean that these innocent children thought in a negative way and attracted these negative things to themselves? Yes, our attitudes can and do positively improve our lives, but they do not explain suffering or success. All people suffer. We are not our own creations, tidy products of ideology. We are human beings, consentlessly interdependent, ugly and beautiful, both.(Keating, 2009)Although some people might agree that the law of attraction is not a solution to all problems in life and that it is only made for desperate people to believe in something when there is no hope at all, it actually does bring hope to all people in need of it and otherwise and it also helps people take the right path in life and achieve their dreams. As we discussed the origin and how the law of attraction behaves, it showed to be a powerful law that if all people use it a nd believe in it, I think, the world may be a better place.
